If an app drops in the store and no one is around to see it, does it make a profit? The answer is no, and therein lies one of the major challenges facing application developers today.
Developers can make the most innovative app of the year or perhaps the decade, but if consumers cannot find it because of marketing obstacles, all of the engineering prowess will be for naught. What good is an angry bird without gamers to fling it from a slingshot or an Instagram without amateur photographers to capture nostalgic memories and share them?
The Application Developers Alliance Emerging Technology & Research Working Group is working diligently to answer this question for developers. Join us for a presentation of the latest information on how to get your app noticed, climb app store search results, and grow your business. We’ll be presenting our findings, hearing expert insight and analysis from the industry’s leaders, and answering your questions to help you grow your business.
All attendees will be enrolled in the Application Developers Alliance. Check out DevsBuild.Itfor resources to grow and build your app business.
Join us for a presentation and discussion with:
Jarah Euston, Director of Analytics at Flurry (Moderator/Presenter)

App Owners are constantly chasing downloads, but to be honest, they are chasing the wrong metric. If a user doesn’t open your application in the first week, it is likely they won’t be opening your application every again. App Owners need to focus on engagement and retention as a metric to build their business. Users are only valuable if they use your application on a regular basis. What is a regular basis ? Well it depends on your application and its’ functionality, but in general users should open your application at minimum 3-5 times per week. This can be achieved with push notification, email reminders and mostly by creating an application that is fun and sticky. One that users depend and look forward to opening.
Wishing all a Happy New Year, with health and success. Thank you to our clients, suppliers, friends and family and supporters. Looking forward to 2018!
We are very grateful to all our customers for the continued trust and support you have shown us this year. For this reason, it can be incredibly difficult for agencies to stand out among their competitors,” said Jenna Seter, Business Analyst at Clutch. “All of the companies featured today have proven themselves as leaders in their industries due to their commitment to clients, passion for work, and ability to generate results.”
Clutch identified the best agencies and developers in New York based on a long-standing methodology that maps service providers’ industry expertise against their ability to deliver quality results for clients.
Companies featured on Clutch are evaluated on their market presence (services, clients, and past projects), and by their clients through interviews conducted by Clutch analysts and published as reviews on their company profiles.
Clutch’s research is ongoing, and firms interested in being featured are encouraged to apply. Upcoming press releases will highlight industry leaders in the UK and Canada.

Apple said its developer community earned more than $70 billion since the App Store launched in 2008, and overall downloads grew more than 70 per cent in the last 12 months.
It also revealed the availability of a subscription business model across all 25 app categories helped drive a 58 per cent annual increase in active paid App Store subscribers over the past year.
Subscribers can use the subscription option for streaming apps including Netflix and Hulu, Tastemade – a mobile-first cooking network – and photo editing apps including Over and Enlight.
Not surprisingly, gaming and entertainment are the store’s top grossing categories, while lifestyle, health and fitness apps experienced over 70 per cent growth in the past year.
The photo and video category is one of the fastest growing categories, with nearly 90 per cent growth.
Apple singled out Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run as being “breakout hits” and said “other standout launches” included CancerAid, Exercise Intensity and Ace Tennis.
“People everywhere love apps and our customers are downloading them in record numbers,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, adding the amount earned by developers over the past nine years is “simply mind-blowing.”
The news comes ahead of the tech giant’s World Wide Developers’ Conference, which runs from 5 June to 9 June.
In May it was reported App Store revenue increased 40 per cent year-on-year to an all time quarterly high during Apple’s fiscal Q2 2017(calendar Q1) while the number of developers publishing on the platform increased 26 per cent year-on-year.
There are many sources and forms of data that are currently available for App Developers/Owners/Marketers to better understand their customers and their app usage patterns. Many sources (i.e. Apple AppStore Analytics, Google Analytics) are free and there are many benefits from reviewing and analyzing the data on a daily basis.
Often app owners spend time on the cost of acquisition of users but fail to look at who these new users are, where they came from and what actions they are performing within the application.
@Apppromo we make a practices of reviewing data and also encourage our customers to continue to review new and old data as long as their application is in market.
